Lake Geneva Country Club XGD Greens Restoration
We recently completed a two week whirlwind at the venerable Lake Geneva Country Club in Lake Geneva,WI about a 1.5 hr drive from NW Chicago. Conveniently located on the shore of Lake Geneva this Robert Foulis masterpiece opened in 1895 on these grounds, this spectacular facility is managed by golf course superintendent Andy Kronwall.
The project was broken down in to several key scopes of work outlined as follows:
i) installation of Classic XGD Greens Drainage in to three select greens this past spring as several greens had been rebuilt already and had the new T1/Alpha bentgrass seed mixture
ii) strip edge of bluegrass surrounds and use to hold down fumigation tarp
iiii) lift fumigation tarps
iv) topdress with XGD’s very own David Welsh
v) fine grading for seed and bluegrass sod
vi) lay bluegrass surrounds
vii) seed greens to T1/Alpha
I will soon have some finish shots as well. I will leave you with this picturesque, yet “scary for the poa annua” shot to ponder at Lake Geneva CC.
RIP poa, RIP.
Bye for now, Poor Old Dirt & Grass Farmer
