Ravinia Green CC XGD Installation Project

XGD Supervisor Keith Kirsch recently ramped up a big 19 green project in Chicagoland at Ravinia Green CC in the Chicagoland area in Riverwoods, IL. Keith and crew will be in on site for the next two months on these larger than average upper midwest greenspads.

Matt Magarian will also be heading up a pair of XGD Fairway Drainage projects as we begin a another yearly phase at both Hinsdale GC and Butler National GC. I will be on site, off and on at Butler and Ravinia, during the weeks of May 6-15.

Golf architect Lawrence Packard designed and opened Ravinia in 1962. GCS Tommy Robinson has led a maintenance team at the club for over the last 20 plus years. The club took the plunge of completing all their greens at once, rather than pushing it out over a 2-3 year period.

The highlighted condition of these greens coming out of the Chiberian winter is a testament to the maintenance practices here at Ravinia:

I liken this picture by Keith, to being the same as mowing a wet, dewey green. In those types of humid conditions, it is impossible to not leave a short term fingerprint, but be cognizant to the ability of the staff to not leave a lasting scar or blemish.

So, by all means reach out to me over the next couple of weeks while I am in the Chicagoland area, so we may personally show you our works on greens and fairways at a sports facility near you.

Cheers,  Poor, Old Dirt & Grass Farmer
