Ridgemoor CC, IL Restoration Project Update
Since my last post on this in August, TDI Golf has since begun to put the finishing touches on this restoration of Ridgemoor Country Club just west of the Chicago city limits under the watchful eye of GCS Josh Langell and Doug Myslinski of Jacobson Golf Course Design .
Opened for golf play in the early 1900’s, Ridgemoor received a major face lift with Langford-Moreau in the 1920’s, followed by some tinkering by Larry Packard post war time. While not a whole lot has been done since then as several hole layouts remain the same from the 1920’s era. About five years ago XGD was contracted to complete a classic greens drainage upgrade. But, this past summer our parent company was hired to complete a major restoration including bunker/tee upgrades, as well as some pond work, greens regrassing, and the rebuilding of four new greens. Bunker upgrades included the addition of the Better Billy Bunker liners. XGD was also involved in the project from August/September to assist in completing bunker, greens and fairway drainage.
One of my favourite green sites is this shot of #6 green with bunker surrounds ready for sod, and BBBunker liners in place:
And here is a shot of the same green with new 007 bentgrass flourishing, and with the XGD laterals slightly visible to the naked eye, if you know what you are looking for, along with proper light and observation angle:
Kudos to all parties involved in this project, as the membership at Ridgemoor is thrilled with the finished product, and should be for some time. So, please reach out to us at XGD in the event that we might be able to help your facility move forward, like we did at Ridgemoor CC.
Cheers, Poor Old Dirt & Grass Farmer
