The Kittansett Club XGD

I came across some pictures I took of The Kittansett Club I took during my club tour with superintendent John Kelly.

They take full advantage of their seaside links location as well as any seaside links I have seen. This club is situated out on a point in the ocean, as is the clubhouse. Designed by William S. Flynn and Frederic C. Hood, this links club has some picturesque holes on the edge of the sea literally. The club http://www.kittansett.org/ is a historic treasure and is maintained that way by the club and its staff. The name of the club is derived from the Native American (Wampanoag)heritage for “Near the Sea”.

XGD’s unique greens drainage subsurface system is a great fit for this historic club looking to enhance their already superb putting surfaces. The original architects left some original greenpads that the club is recapturing with the use of their own maintenance staff, who have been enlarging the putting surfaces.John Kelly and his staff have also put in numerous hours to upgrade their own fairway drainage systems to provide their members with uniform subsoil moisture conditions in the highest play areas requiring firm and fast playing characteristics.

XGD Systems enjoyed the experience of working with a club with the same long term project goals, with regard to providing dry premium golf playing conditions. Several of our former clients for greens drainage have been contacting us for their fairway drainage issues recently. These requests require specific site visits and XGD will honor these site visits this summer as our spring XGD installation season may be winding down in early June.
